I was at the store before it opened on the day that Wii Fit was released. Luckily, I was able to get one before they sold out. Since then, I have also given one as a gift and convinced several friends to purchase one. No one has been disappointed!
As a physician, I have always been interested in new ways to encourage people to keep active and I think this is a great way to help. My senior citizen parents have even played it with my children! I know many seniors feel it is “just for the young crowd,” but I know from personal experience that it is something that can be enjoyed by more than one generation at a time.
Having a Wii console in my home eliminated the difficulty of getting out to the gym on days when I am short on time. With two kids always on the go, I am almost always short on time! I use Wii Fit on early morning hockey practice days. After the 5 am pickup, I have just enough time to get through a workout before it is my turn to bring the kids home from the rink.
I was willing to let my children try Big Brain Academy. I found that it was not only educational but it was extremely entertaining as well! The creation of our Wii Miis was a fun family affair. We have enjoyed playing the Big Brain Academy.
We were fortunate to get one of the first Wii Fit systems when they came out. Dad became an expert and it became known at his workplace. He was summoned to his CIO’s office. Not knowing why, he went with some trepidation. Upon arriving, he discovered that health and work life balance was a major topic of his senior management meeting, and his boss wanted him to do a demo of the Wii Fit. He was a big hit, there were managers lined up at lunch to try out all the great Wii Fit activities.
